This film is about one unique apartment in St-Petersburg where at different times
lived dancers Rudolf Nuriev, Michael Barishnikov, and Valery Panov,
conductors Valery Gergiev and Evgeni Kolobov, and baletmasters Dmitry
Brianzev, Vladimir Vassiliev, and Ekaterina Maximova. People who
visited this apartment were famous as well.
Excerpts from ballets: Don Carlos by Verdi, Don Quixote by Minkus, Zolushka by
Rossini, and Creation of the World by Andrei Petrov.
The film is full off unique historical footage featuring celebrities who lived
and created in this apartment.
Painter Taimuraz Murvanidze, who also used to live in this apartment, speaks
about its inhabitants.

5. Telefilm "Boris Eifman's
Ballet Theater". 72'. 1999.
It was twenty-five years ago when Boris Eifman, one of the most brilliant modern
choreographers, started his artistic career. Each of his productions was an
outstanding event. Alla Osipenko, Maris
Liepa, John Markovsky, Valentina Ganibalova, and
Valery Mikhailovsky
were his loyal adherents. Later Eifman created a unique troupe, which
included several generations of extraordinary ballet dancers. He directed such
ballets as "Idiot" and
"The Karamazov Brothers" after Dostoevsky novels, choreographed
comedies "The Twelfth Night"after Shakespeare and "A Crazy
Day" after Beaumarchais, "Master and Margarita" after Bulgakov,
philosophical ballet "Jerusalem", Mozart's "Requiem" and
many others. Alfred Schnittke, Rodin Schedrin, and Andrei Petrov speak
about Boris Eifman.

film "Evgeni Kissin from the Land of Music". 53'. 2003.
The film presents excerpts from different performances by Evgeni Kissin and
opens the artistic world of one of the best pianists of the 20th and 21th
centuries. Evgeni Kissin tells us about his favourite works of fiction and
poetry and reflects on his relationship with theater and ballet.
During a few days spent in St-Petersburg, Kissin managed to visit the Russian
Museum, the Yusupov palace, and the Boris Eifman Modern Ballet theater and
participate in the "Square of Arts Festival", where he played Brahms'
piano concerto with the St-Petersburg Philarmonic Orchestra (Yuri Temirkanov,
conductor) as well as performed a solo piano program. Viewers will listen to
fragments of these concerts and will witness a unique performance of Evgeni
Kissin in the ancient amphitheatre in Orange, France, where a crowd of
spectators enthusiastically greeted this subtle and high-spirited musician. You
will listen to Evgeni Kissin reciting Vladimir Mayakovsky's poetry and speaking
about his links with Russia.
The film also shows Kissin in his childhood and youth.

Strauss and more..

Television film "Shostakovich: father and son". 29'. 2003.
This film tells the story of the artistic growth of Maxim Shostakovich,
world-known conductor and son of Dmitri Shostakovich.
Fragments from Shostakovich's Symphonies # 4,5,7 and 8 are performed by the
Leningrad Philarmonic Orchestra under baton of Evgeni Mravinsky and Maxim
Shostakovich. Fragments from the opera "Katerina Izmailova" are
performed, featuring Galina Vishnevskaya as Katerina. We hear the memories of
Dmitry Shostakovich's wife, his children and grandchildren. The movie also
includes excerpts from the First Piano Concerto by Shostakovich.
Dmitri Shostakovich is playing the piano part himself. Irina Bogacheva
(mezzo-soprano) and Elena Gaudasinskaja(piano) perform Shostakokoch's cycle
“Hamlet” after Marina Tsvetajeva. There are also excerpts from Shostakovich's
ballet ‘”The Young Lady and the Hooligan”.
