For centuries treasures of sacred music of vast and varied styles
have been created in Russia: from ascetic one part tunes to splendid
polyphony. The compositions on this CD demonstrate very interesting and
different trends in music for choir a capella during the end of the 19th and the
beginning of the 20th centuries.
The art of renowned Russian singer Irina Arkhipova, with her
operatic arias and varied chamber programs, is admired throughout the
world. Her voice is full of warmth, lyricism and lofty poetry; it appeals
to eternal moral truth.
